May 14 – Emerald Curtain Collective Monthly Gathering
May 14 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm PDT
This month’s activity: Documentary Screening + Puppet & Mask Display
We Are Here is a one-hour documentary about the Paperhand Puppet Intervention, a community-rooted puppet theater company based in North Carolina. The film follows the company through its 20th season and takes a close look at the people, the process, and the intention behind making large-scale art that moves audiences toward action. It’s funny, it’s earnest, and it asks some good questions about what it means to make something together. Learn more about the film.
We’ll screen the film and then open up for a Q&A and puppet demo.
We’ll also have some of ECC’s handmade puppets and masks on hand to look at and handle. If you’ve ever been curious about how these things get made, or if you’d like to get involved in building future nature-themed puppet shows and community events, this is a good night to show up. No experience required. Just bring your curiosity.
As always, the gathering is free and open to all. Donations are greatly appreciated.
Space is limited. A free ticket is required to attend.
