This week, the Emerald Curtain Collective hosted our monthly gathering at the South Beach Community Center, and it was an evening filled with creativity, connection, and storytelling. Our “Collage & Chat” event brought together community members to explore the art of collage-making using personal ephemera; family photos, vintage magazine clippings, letters, and cherished paper keepsakes. Participants transformed blank journals and repurposed cigar boxes into unique artistic expressions, layering textures and memories to create something entirely their own.
The atmosphere was warm and collaborative as attendees worked side by side, sharing stories behind their materials and discovering new techniques. With scissors, glue, and craft supplies spread across the tables, the room buzzed with creative energy. Some participants incorporated natural elements like ferns and pressed flowers into their designs, while others experimented with bold colors and patterns. The event truly embodied our collective’s spirit of using art as a medium for memory, expression, and community building.
We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for this special evening and can’t wait to see you at our next monthly gathering in February. If you missed this one, stay tuned—there’s always room at the table for new creative voices in our community!
